NASA: Colonizing Space - Whether you want to be an astronaut or you're just interested in the future of space exploration, this program is for you. Someday, we may colonize Mars. Tell our Arduino device what you want to be when you grow up, and find out if Mars needs you! Also, make your own record of what you would send into space to represent humanity. What music, or recipe, or.. would you send? With NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Matthew Borghese. For grades K-5. Tues, Mar 5th, 2:30 – 3:30 PM.
Make Aluminum Can Plant Markers - Creating beautiful permanent tags and markers for your seedlings, starts, and plant species will make your garden identification so easy and fun. Karen Weber will share her knowledge and materials so we can all add a whimsical, decorative, and useful element to our spring plantings. You can bring a pair of old scissors, gloves, and your favorite aluminum cans, or come and use Karen's supplies. Sat, Mar. 16th, 2:00-4:00 PM
Island Story Time - An open program that includes stories, rhymes, and songs with opportunities for movement and interactive participation. Weekly on Saturday. For ages 2-6, Sat., Mar.2nd , 10:30-11:00 AM.
TED Talks - are influential videos from expert speakers on education, business, science, tech and creativity. Watch engaging talks on the big screen in the Island Library's meeting room and stay to share thoughts about the topic. Friends of Island Library will provide snacks. Currently meeting monthly on Thursdays. Next meeting Feb. 28, 7:00 – 8:00 PM.
Movie Night for Grown-ups - Enjoy a movie on our new big screen in the Hanson meeting room. You choose the movie, we'll make the popcorn. Let’s us know what you'd like to see, and we'll give you a vote for the next movie showing on the first Thursday of each month. Mar. 7th, 6:30 – 8:00 PM.

An Evening with Steve Mayo - Pacific Northwest marine artist Steve Mayo has had a lifetime interest in maritime art and history. As a youth, he learned to sail on the Columbia River where he became fascinated with fishing boats, tugs, and ocean-going shipping. Today Mayo and his wife live in Belllingham, WA where he continues to paint from his studio overlooking the waterfront of Bellingham Bay. His paintings reside in many private and corporate collections internationally and have been featured as covers and illustrations in a number of books on Northwest regional and British Columbia history. 'Loganita Farms Kitchen Garden Companion' with Mary von Krusenstiern - A kitchen garden can feed your belly, heart, and mind. Loganita Farms is the culinary garden for world-renowned Willows Inn on Lummi Island. Head farmer Mary von Krusenstiern shares her favorite tips for getting the most out of your own containers, raised beds, or backyard plot. Written with Anne Treat, a foreword by award-winning Willows Inn Chef Blaine Wetzel, and featuring artwork by Kristen den Hartog, the easy reference 'Companion' will be available at a special cash price of $20 at this library event.
