Lumberton Police Department Our goal is to provide the highest quality of law enforcement service through a departmental philosophy of community-oriented problem-solving policing.

The Lumberton Police Department’s headquarters is located at 1305 Godwin Avenue, Lumberton, NC 28358. Our focus is to enhance programs and services to ensure the protection of lives and property while promoting crime prevention awareness, identification and apprehension of offenders, maintaining public order and excellent community relations. Our department is composed of 90 sworn and 13 non-sworn

employees. Police Department Divisions are: Administration, Professional Standards/Internal Affairs, Investigative/Juvenile, Patrol and Training. It is the Lumberton Police Department’s mission to work hard and diligently to build strong, trusting relationships within all communities which we serve by reducing crime, fear of crime and neighborhood decay through proactive efforts.

The Lumberton Police Department is asking the public for help in locating 34-year-old Justin Jacobs and 45-year-old Kristy Moody. Both individuals have outstanding warrants charging them with assault on a child under 12 and communicating threats. These charges are in relation to an incident that took place at Mr. P’s Skateworld in Lumberton.

The Lumberton Police Department is seeking the public's assistance with locating a suspect wanted in connection to the homicide that occurred at Atkinson’s Cigarette Land on Friday December 20th, 2024.

Jaylan Gray West, 17, of Lumberton is wanted in connection to the death of Billy Ray Huggins, 44, of Lumberton, NC. West is charged with First Degree Murder.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jaylan West is asked to call the Lumberton Police Department at 910-671-3845.

The victim who was struck and killed has been identified as 44-year-old Billy Ray Huggins of Lumberton, NC.

Investigators have identified the suspect as a 17-year-old male juvenile. Warrants have been obtained charging the juvenile with First Degree Murder and investigators are currently attempting to locate him.

On Friday December 20th, 2024 at 11:19, Lumberton Police Officers responded to a report of a person struck by a vehicle at Atkinson’s Cigarette Land located at 3005 West 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

When officers arrived, they found a 44-year-old male victim who had been struck by a vehicle, deceased. The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification.

Based on the initial investigation, it appears the victim and the suspect, who was driving a burgundy Chevrolet pickup truck got into an altercation in the parking lot. The suspect then gets into his vehicle and intentionally strikes the victim with the truck. Fatally injuring the victim. The suspect then fled from the scene.

Investigators and crime scene technicians are working to positively ID the suspect and vehicle.

The Lumberton Police Department is seeking the public's assistance with locating two suspects wanted in connection to the homicide that occurred at the Lumberton Super Walmart on Friday December 20th, 2024.

Ezekiel Burden, 17, of Lumberton is wanted in connection to the death of Brandy Nicole Olson, 42, of Lumberton, NC. Burden is charged with First Degree murder, Discharge Firearm Within Enclosure To Incite Fear, and Going Armed To The Terror Of The People.

Brian Campbell, 18, of Lumberton is charged with Accessory After The Fact.

The investigation in the fatal shooting at the Lumberton Super Walmart is ongoing.
At this point in the investigation it appears this is an isolated incident in which the individuals responsible for the shooting targeted two people they knew, who were standing at the Woodforest Bank, inside of the Walmart Super Center.
As gunshots were fired the victim, who was waiting in line, was struck and killed.
The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Brandy Nicole Olson of Lumberton, NC.
The Lumberton Police Department, along with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement, and the ATF are currently investigating several active investigative leads.

Friday December 20th, 2024
On Friday December 20th, 2024 at 3:45 Lumberton Emergency Communications received calls reporting a shooting inside the Lumberton NC Super Walmart, located at 5070 Fayetteville Road.
Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies responded to the scene.
When officers arrived a they found a female suffering from gunshot wound(s) at the Woodforest Bank, located inside the Super Walmart. Bystanders were attempting to provide life saving measures.
After the shooting the shooters fled from the store and left the area.
The female victim was transported to UNC Health Southeastern where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Details are limited but no one else is thought to be injured as a result of the shooting at this time.
Investigators from the Lumberton Police Department, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, along with other state and federal agencies are currently on scene investigating.

These toys will be a beacon of hope and joy for children across Rutherford County, from Lake Lure/Chimney Rock to the southern end, with Rutherford Sheriff Office coordinating the distribution at Second Baptish Church. Cabbagestalk was taken before a magistrate, where he was served with warrants charging him with:



First Degree Murder



Discharge Firearm in City Limits



Injury To Personal Property



Cabbagestalk is currently in the Robeson County Detention Center under no bond.

The Lumberton Police Department has obtained warrants for the murder of 34-year-old Justin Keith Whitted.



Justin Whitted was shot and killed on October 26th, 2024 around 3:57 pm near the intersection of NC Highway 211 and Saddletree Road.



Detectives investigating this murder, have obtained warrants charging 25-year-old Tauris Agzene Cabbagestalk of Lumberton with:



First Degree Murder

Discharge Firearm in City Limits



Anyone with information on Tauris Cabbagestalk’s location is asked to contact the Lumberton Police Department at (910) 671-3845.



Tauris Cabbagestalk should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
