The staff at the City of Luling Southside Pool would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support of our facility over the past 71 years. We have shared laughter, memories, and countless moments beneath the sun together, and it is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the pool's closure in February 2025. The challenges we face in repairing this beloved facility are immense, and without the assistance of grants, the city is left unable to meet the pressing needs of our cherished pool. As you know, this leaves the community with a hole to fill; We warmly encourage all of you to continue advocating for a new facility or additional recreational options for our youth.
A special thank-you goes out to our dedicated youth who brightened our days with their vibrant energy, the Benton boys, the Whitehead family, Diane Ward and her grandchildren, and all the precious faces who made our pool their second home! Our gratitude also goes to the Luling Kiwanis Club, Gonzales YMCA, Luling High School, and Legacy Ranch for their invaluable partnerships in providing services to the youth. We are also thankful to all the families who have chosen to celebrate their special occasions with us over the years! To the parents, guardians, and grandparents who entrusted us with your children's swim lessons, we thank you for believing in us and allowing us the privilege to educate the next generation. And to the incredible special needs community that embraced our SNAP program, thank you for opening our eyes and hearts to your needs and experiences; you have touched us profoundly.
Lastly, we want to express our deepest appreciation for our staff, who have consistently gone above and beyond, even in the most challenging conditions. Your dedication, whether it was navigating the summer heat, coordinating between practices, or working extra shifts, or even time away from your families has been the foundation of our pool's success. You are the true heart and soul of this pool, and the difference you make in the lives of those around you is immeasurable.
