THANK YOU TO LOWE’S HOME IMPROVEMENT OF CAMDEN!

We are extremely thankful to Lowe’s Home Improvement of Camden for their assistance in acquiring smoke alarms and battery powered drills! Using funding from Fairfield Electric and the generosity of Lowe’s, we have purchased 276 smoke alarms and 2 drills.

Thank you to Clay Hanna and all the team at Lowe’s for helping us extend and stretch our funding by donating 66 alarms and 2 battery powered drills.

Thank you to LeAnna Adams with the ALPHA Behavioral Health Center for this very informative training.

ALPHA Behavioral Health Center was proud to partner with Lugoff Fire Department for a training focused on gas station drugs, v**e shop substances, and the risks these products can pose to our youth and community.

A major focus of the training was the marketing of these products and how they are often packaged and presented to look like familiar, everyday items. As part of the training, participants played two versions of a game created by the ALPHA Prevention Team to demonstrate how marketing tactics can make products appear familiar, safe, and appealing while potentially hiding the risks they carry.

The goal of this training was to increase awareness, provide accurate information, and help community professionals better understand these substances and their potential harms.

Thank you to Lugoff Fire for partnering with ALPHA Behavioral Health Center and making substance education and prevention a priority.

The Lugoff Fire Department is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our Brothers in Blue. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our dear friend and the entire DeLong family along with the Columbia Police Department. Another one of our local heroes making the ultimate sacrifice for his fellow man. You will be missed Chris but NOT forgotten.

Lugoff Fire-Rescue awarded $5,000 for smoke alarms

Lugoff, S.C. (August 25, 2026)– Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) has been awarded a grant totaling $5,000 by Fairfield Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round-Up Program. This funding will enable LF-R to purchase smoke alarms for the residences in the LF-R District.

LF-R Assistant Chief Will Catoe applied to Fairfield Electric Cooperative for assistance with this project. LF-R’s goal is to ensure each home in the Lugoff Fire District has working smoke alarms. This grant funding will allow Lugoff Firefighters to place working smoke alarms in homes that do not have them at NO CHARGE.

Working smoke alarms save lives by giving occupants precious time to exit their home before being overcome by the toxins of smoke during a fire.

Smoke alarms should be tested at least once a month and ensure everyone knows the sound of the alarm and how to respond. Ensure batteries are replaced at least once a year or replace smoke alarms with newer 10-year long-life alarms. Smoke alarms should be replaced when they are 10 years old. Smoke alarms should be installed in every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the home.

Update: at 8 pm Lugoff Fire will maintain 4 personnel throughout the night, relieving previous personnel sent earlier today.

8/17/26: Lugoff Fire has been requested as mutual aid by Fairfield County Fire Service to assist with the commercial fire at the MLily factory in Winnsboro. Tower 7 and Squad 8 are responding with 6 personnel.

8/16/26: Lugoff Fire Squad 8 along with 3 personnel have responded by mutual aid request to assist Fairfield County Fire Service with the incident at the MLily Factory in Winnsboro, SC.
