🌀 Hurricane season is here — and preparation starts NOW.
For coastal residents with medical needs, physical disabilities, or limited transportation options, evacuating during a hurricane can be especially challenging. The Coastal Health District encourages anyone who may need evacuation assistance to apply in advance for the Hurricane Registry.
The Hurricane Registry is a confidential list of residents who may require transportation assistance during a hurricane evacuation. Local health departments work with emergency management agencies to coordinate evacuations when there is a significant hurricane threat.
Don’t wait until a storm is approaching - applications must be completed BEFORE hurricane season emergencies arise.
Residents in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh counties can apply by:
📞 Calling toll-free: 1-833-CHD-REGISTRY (1-833-243-7344)
🌐 Visiting: coastalhealthdistrict.org/registry
Examples of qualifying conditions include individuals who:
✔️ Need help with daily living activities
✔️ Require life-saving medical support or power-dependent equipment
✔️ Do not have transportation access during an evacuation
Please share this information with family, friends, neighbors, and caregivers who may benefit from this important service. Preparedness saves lives.
If you have health or mental challenges and would need assistance evacuating, see if you belong on our Hurricane Registry.
