Big news for municipal light plant (MLP) customers! ⚡

Making your home more energy-efficient just got a whole lot more affordable.

Through the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) MLP Zero-Interest Energy Efficiency Loan Program, residential customers of participating local municipal light plants can now access 0% financing for up to $25,000 to fund qualifying home upgrades!

Meet Our Summer Intern, Gianna Scibelli! ⚡

We love seeing the next generation of energy leaders in action! This summer, Gianna joined the MMWEC team as our Energy Efficiency Intern.

Here's a Q&A with Gianna:

School & Major: Environmental Science Major at Wheaton College | Class of 2026

Favorite Project: The highlight of my internship has been my hands-on work with our Connected Homes program through NextZero. It has been a fascinating experience, and I’ve gained invaluable insights learning alongside our team.

Most interesting thing you’ve learned about Public Power: MMWEC’s strong relationship with its member MLPs and hearing about the many vital ways we support them.

Off-the-Clock: You can find me walking my dog, calling my nieces and nephew, or reading a book outside.

Did You Know? Before MMWEC, our property played a major role in the Cold War!🪖

Our team got a fascinating, behind-the-scenes look at the property's history and roots, thanks to a special tour led by former MMWEC staff member and history enthusiast Al Menard.

Before MMWEC’s founding, our property was part of the Westover Air Reserve Base, a major Strategic Air Command installation that hosted B-52 Stratofortress bombers and KC-135 tankers during the Cold War. Al guided us through the remaining artifacts that were assembled right here on our campus including old gun turrets, military vaults, detonators, and bomb-warming areas.
