Today we pause as a nation to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is more than a long weekendโ€”it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live in freedom.

Letโ€™s take a moment to remember the heroes who never made it home and the families who carry their memory every day.

Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Remember. Honor. Never Forget.

Due to weather conditions and forecasts showing the weather getting worse rather than improving, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonightโ€™s Ludlow Memorial Day Candlelight Vigil and tomorrowโ€™s Memorial Day Parade.

This decision was not made lightly. Memorial Day is one of our communityโ€™s most important traditions as we come together to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. However, the safety of our veterans, participants, volunteers, families, and community members must remain our top priority.

While events may be canceled, the purpose of Memorial Day is not. We encourage everyone to take a moment to pause, reflect, and honor the memory of our fallen heroes and the sacrifices made for our freedoms.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Memorial Day Weekend Begins with Wreath-Laying Ceremonies ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

As we begin Memorial Day weekend, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Our wreath-laying ceremonies serve as a solemn tradition of remembrance, allowing our community to come together and pay tribute to those who answered the call of duty and never returned home. At each location, we reflect on the sacrifices made by generations of service members and remember the local heroes whose legacy continues to live on in our community.

These ceremonies remind us that Memorial Day is more than a holiday โ€” it is a time of gratitude, reflection, and remembrance.

We thank all veterans, volunteers, families, and community members joining us as we begin this important Memorial Day observance.

May we never forget those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Lest We Forget.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Memorial Day Senior Center Luncheon ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today we had the privilege of gathering at the Senior Center for a Memorial Day luncheon as we reflected on the true meaning of this solemn day of remembrance.

As part of the program, we shared the reading of the POW/MIA Missing Man Table Ceremony โ€” a powerful and emotional reminder that some service members never made it home and others remain unaccounted for. Each item on the table serves as a symbol of sacrifice, hope, remembrance, and our nationโ€™s promise to never forget.

We also took time to speak about our own townโ€™s Missing in Action service members โ€” local heroes whose stories and sacrifices remain part of our communityโ€™s history. While many names are etched on memorials and remembered during ceremonies, those listed as MIA represent an empty chair that still remains in the hearts of families and communities waiting for answers.

Memorial Day reminds us that honoring our heroes is not only about remembering those who gave their lives, but also ensuring that no one who served is ever forgotten.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today as we remembered, reflected, and paid tribute to our nationโ€™s heroes and our hometown heroes.

Lest We Forget.
