The “Refuge” is a term that was coined back in the late 80’s or early 90’s to describe the conservation effort put forth by the Holliday family to support wildlife on their property, for not only hunting, but for the enjoyment and care of all wild things that inhabit this sacred, hallowed ground. Since 1978 when Edgar and Judy Holliday purchased the property, many fond memories have been made, with family and friends. From the simple act of raking the seemingly endless amount of maple leaves in the fall, to the somewhat “annual” JaketoberFest, and not to mention the world renowned rabbit hunting, four decades of hunting, wood cutting, and pure outdoor enjoyment, have have been cultivated from the swampy soils we call home.
