Fire protection systems cannot be treated as set-it-and-forget-it equipment. Sprinklers, alarms, pumps, tanks, extinguishers and other systems require recurring inspection, testing and maintenance. Along the Gulf Coast, facilities also have to account for humidity, salt air, storms and demanding operating conditions.

The easiest option would have been to install the fire suppression system shown on the construction drawings. It would not have been the right option for the facility.

ICFP’s review found that the proposed system did not adequately address the hazards of a new flammable-liquids warehouse. Our team worked with the project stakeholders to develop an approved alternative designed around the warehouse’s actual contents and storage configuration.

A long-time customer recently asked ICFP to provide a second opinion on a fire sprinkler inspection proposal for a property outside our normal service territory.

Our team reviewed the scope, labor, travel, and related costs before preparing a proposal based on what the project would reasonably require. The difference between the proposals was significant, but the real result was giving the customer clear information they could trust.
