Training Day on the Water 🚒🌊

On May 12, 2026, Lucas Fire-Rescue had the opportunity to participate in hoist training alongside Wylie Fire-Rescue, Texas DPS Air Support (DPS 101 & DPS 102), Dallas Fire-Rescue, and the Corp of Engineers. Crews trained on coordinated rescue operations involving helicopter hoist procedures, water rescue integration, communication, and victim extraction techniques.

These joint training exercises are invaluable in strengthening regional partnerships and ensuring our crews remain prepared for complex rescue situations both on land and on the water.

A huge thank you to Wylie Fire Rescue, Texas DPS, Dallas Fire-Rescue and the Corp of Engineers for the collaboration, professionalism, and commitment to public safety. We appreciate every opportunity to train together and continue building strong interagency relationships that benefit the communities we serve.

Today, we proudly celebrate Engineer Michael Dunnam on 12 years of dedicated service with Lucas Fire-Rescue! 👏🚒

Michael began his career with Lucas Fire-Rescue in 2014 as a Firefighter/Paramedic and was promoted to Engineer in January 2023. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to serving both the department and our community.

In 2025, Michael was recognized with both the Engineer of the Year Award and the Pride Ownership Award, honors that reflect the impact he makes every single day.

Known by his coworkers as one of the kindest people they know, Michael brings positivity, experience, and encouragement to every shift. His fun-loving personality and upbeat attitude make even the toughest days feel easier, while his willingness to help anyone at any time speaks volumes about his character. Michael consistently leads from the front, setting the example through hard work, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to see others succeed. His deep experience, meticulous nature, and ability to step up and perform well in leadership roles, including serving as Captain when needed, have earned the respect and admiration of those around him. Most importantly, Michael’s servant-hearted approach and constant smile help bring out the best in everyone he works with.
