Hello Gardeners!

This Saturday (2/21/26) at 10 am, we will be having a wildflower seeding day at the Heart of Lubbock Community Garden! Join special guest Dr. Scott Longing and us to start wildflower seeds in the garden. Learn about the benefits of pollinators and beneficial insects in your garden, planting spacing of wildflowers, how to deal with troubled weedy areas within your garden with flowers, and how to rest your garden with beautiful flowers!

We invite everyone to attend. We have a lot of work to do, and with your help, we can create a functional and positive environmental area in the Heart of Lubbock neighborhood. As always, dress for the weather and bring some water. I hope to see y’all there!

Good morning gardeners!



It’s been a while, but it’s starting to shape into spring… you know what that means!

Time to get our garden on. This Saturday (2/7/2026) at 10 am, we will be having a garden day at the Heart of Lubbock Community Garden.

This season, we’re doing something a little different. To give our garden a chance to regenerate, we will be planting primarily flowers in 2 weeks (2/21). However, we have to prepare the beds for the upcoming planting day.

This Saturday, we will have a general cleanup. Bring some water, dress appropriately for the garden, and get ready to prep some beds!

🧄This Saturday (10/11), we will have a garden day at the Heart of Lubbock Community Garden at 10 am.
We will be planting garlic in time for spooky season (keeping the vampires away!), general weeding and cleaning, and painting on some signage for the garden.

🧄As always, please bring a water bottle and dress appropriately for the weather and the garden. If you have gloves, bring them; if not, we have some available for you to wear.

This Saturday (9/27), we will be having a gardening day at 10 am at the Heart of Lubbock Community Garden. For the most part we will just be having a general workday, harvesting what we can, and hanging out at the garden.
We’ll also be discussing more about officer positions, so if you’re interested in a position, hope to see you there! We also want to hear some ideas about a potential art project we have been considering.

As always, bring closed-toe shoes, some water, dress for the weather, and gloves if you have them. If not, we have some you can borrow.

Hello Gardeners!

This Saturday (9/13/2025), we are having a garden day at 10 am at the Heart of Lubbock Community Garden!
We need help clearing out beds of weeds, harvesting produce in the garden, and sowing some root and leafy green seeds for a Fall garden.

Please bring water, closed-toed shoes, and gloves if you have them. If you don’t have gloves, no worries, we have some communal gloves that we can share!

On another note, for the organization, we are currently looking for new officers for the spring semester and onwards! Even if you do not have gardening experience, this may be a critical leadership role that can help you in the future. If you’re interested in learning about gardening, want to play a leadership role in a community setting, and work with students and the Lubbock community to promote food justice, this may be your sign to start considering an officer position.

Hello everyone,

This Saturday is the TTU Ag game at 11am. Because of that we are skipping this week’s garden day.
Still, feel free to stop by the garden and harvest tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, okra, and any other crops you see ready!
Just please, keep the fruiting plants in the ground!

9/13 Saturday we will be planting seeds for a fall garden. Hope to see y’all there!

We will not be having a garden day tomorrow at the HoL CG, so make sure you stop by Roots Booker T. Washington Community Garden to see what goodies they have! We have to support all the Lubbock gardens we can! 💪

Hello everyone! Garden day this Saturday (8/16) 10am, at the HoL CG. We have tomatoes, peppers, arugula, and some okra that needs some harvesting!

Come by, pick some produce, pull some weeds, bring some water, and dress for the weather!
