Well everyone, the cold and nasty weather has arrived on the South Plains. Please do not get out on the roads unless absolutely necessary.
Also, as a reminder, space heaters draw a lot of power. You should never plug a space heater into an extension cord for this reason. Heavier draws can cause cords and surge protectors to melt and become a fire hazard.
If you must use a space heater:
1. Plug it directly into a wall outlet.
2. Make sure to set it on a hard, steady, and flat surface.
3. Keep all flammable materials and objects a minimum of 3 feet way from the space heater.
4. NEVER leave it unattended.
Remember to bring your pets inside, out of the cold and remember to check on your neighbors!
Stay warm folks! We are here if you need us but let’s try to get through these next few days safely!
