One of the biggest challenges rural fire departments face is accessing a water supply that is large enough to keep their fire engines pumping water on the fire. Most places out in the county rely on Mutual Aid from departments and agencies outside of their district to help shuttle water to the fire scene. Friday night and Saturday, volunteers from Buffalo Springs, Ransom Canyon, West Carlisle, Idalou, Abernathy, Levelland, Lorenzo, New Deal, Wolfforth, and Shallowater Volunteer Fire Departments spent their free time learning and training on how to overcome this challenge. Below are some pictures of the 50+ volunteers taking a class taught by TEEX and working together to learn how to better serve their community should this challenge arise.
