Today's scam warning from Kim Komando: "⚠️ QR you kidding? Please stop believing every QR code in your inbox is a helpful little square. Microsoft says it tracked 8.3 billion phishing emails in the first quarter of 2026, and QR-code scams were the fastest-growing mess, up 146% from January to March. Crooks stick a code in an official-looking email, you scan it, and you’ve handed over your login. The nasty bit? It can dodge company filters and even multifactor authentication. Don’t scan email QR codes. Ever."

Do you use AI created passwords? Here's a warning from Kim Komando: "AI-generated passwords are a trap. If you’re using a chatbot to generate your passwords, stop and read this. A recent PCMag study found that AI-generated passwords follow predictable patterns. Letter, number, special character, repeat. Because AI is trained on patterns, it creates the same sequences over and over. Hackers know this." Need help with passwords? We have tips & tricks at the Loyalton Library.

Per Kim Komando: every question you ask AI it uses "about 17 ounces per typical conversation. That’s a UC Riverside study finding. One 20- to 50-question chat uses roughly the same water as the bottle in your gym bag. Not for you. For the servers doing the thinking.

Sam Altman pushed back in 2025, claiming newer systems use barely a drop per query. Maybe. But total AI water consumption still hit tens of billions of gallons globally last year. That’s basically the world’s entire bottled water output. For AI. Wow."
