What an absolutely incredible morning at the City of Westlake’s 3rd Annual Westlake 5K Run/Walk – Remembering 9/11!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out and made today so special — our runners, walkers, sponsors, wellness partners, volunteers, public safety partners, City staff, and every single person who helped behind the scenes.

Seeing our community come together with so much energy, heart, patriotism, and support was truly unforgettable. From the starting line to the finish line, you could feel the excitement and community spirit all morning long! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in making this year’s 5K such a meaningful and memorable event.

🇺🇸 8:46 A.M. | 25 Years Later

At this moment, 25 years ago, American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, beginning a day that would forever change our nation.

Today, where the Twin Towers once stood, the reflecting pools of the National September 11 Memorial offer a place to remember the lives lost, honor the courage and sacrifice of so many, and reflect on all those whose lives were forever changed.

At 8:46 a.m., we pause.

We remember the lives.
We remember the courage.
We remember the sacrifice.

Twenty-five years later, we have not forgotten. We will never forget.

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001, a day that is forever etched into the heart of our nation.

We remember the lives lost, the families whose lives changed in an instant, the first responders who ran toward danger, the acts of courage, the compassion, and the selflessness that emerged in the midst of unimaginable tragedy.

At 8:46 a.m. today, we invite you to pause for a moment of silence, marking the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center and the events of September 11 began to unfold.

Twenty-five years have passed, but remembrance has no expiration date. May we continue to honor those lost, but also the humanity that followed, when people reached for one another, helped strangers, and stood together.

Today we pause. We remember. We honor.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
