New York State EMS Protocol Updates are Now Available Online

The New York State Collaborative EMS Protocols and Statewide BLS Protocols have been updated and are now available on the Department's website. The protocol updates will go into effect on September 1st, 2026.

The updated protocols, along with the accompanying change log outlining key revisions, can be accessed at:

https://www.health.ny.gov/professionals/ems/protocol.htm

We encourage all EMS agencies, Medical Directors, educators, and EMS clinicians to review both the updated protocols and the change log to become familiar with the revisions. Agencies should begin planning for the implementation of the updated protocols, effective date of September 1, 2026.

Thank you for your continued commitment to providing high-quality pre-hospital care across New York State.

Please note that the proposed spinal restriction protocol changes were NOT included in the protocol updates due to recommendations made by the State Trauma Advisory Council that require the protocol to go back to the SEMAC for review and approval.
The documents will be added to the September agenda.
