White Hall Town Council Adopts Resolution Prohibiting Licensing of Bars and Nightclubs Within Town Limits and Police Jurisdiction

White Hall, Alabama — Mayor Delmartre’ Bethel announced tonight that the White Hall Town Council has unanimously adopted a resolution denying business licenses to all bars and nightclubs seeking to operate within the Town of White Hall and its police jurisdiction.

The resolution was introduced and adopted during the regularly scheduled council meeting held on June 10, 2026, following recent public safety concerns and ongoing issues related to violent incidents, unlicensed operations, unlicensed alcohol sales, and
inadequate security at establishments attempting to operate as nightlife venues.

Mayor Bethel issued the following statement:
“The Town of White Hall is committed to protecting the safety, dignity, and well‑being of our residents. Tonight’s resolution makes clear that we will not permit bars or nightclubs to operate within our town or police jurisdiction. These types of establishments have repeatedly demonstrated a pattern of risk, disorder, and violence that is incompatible with the future we are building for White Hall.
”

The newly adopted resolution directs the Town to deny all current and future applications for business licenses involving:

Bars
Nightclubs
Lounges
Alcohol‑focused entertainment venues

This action is supported by the Town’s authority under Alabama Code §11‑51‑90, §11‑45‑1, and §11‑40‑10, which empower municipalities to regulate business activity, protect public safety, and prevent public nuisances. It also aligns with the Town’s Public
Nuisance Ordinance #03112026, adopted to safeguard residents from unsafe or disorderly business operations.

Mayor Bethel added: “White Hall is moving forward with a vision centered on family‑friendly development, economic stability, and community well‑being. This resolution ensures that our business environment reflects those values.”

The Town will continue to evaluate business applications that support economic growth, community development, and the long‑term interests of White Hall residents.
