Some in the community may have noticed that our substation on Edgecliff Road is currently listed for sale. We want to take a moment to explain what this means and how it benefits the residents we proudly serve.

For over a year now, our department has been operating out of our main station near Bon Air. What began as a temporary solution to offset apparatus being out of service has transitioned to a permanent operational change—and the results have been overwhelmingly positive. By consolidating operations, we have seen improved response times, stronger staffing levels, and increased overall efficiency, all of which directly benefit the community.

All equipment that was previously housed at the Edgecliff station has been relocated to our main station, ensuring nothing has been lost in our ability to respond effectively.

Additionally, as part of our long-term planning, we sold our rescue truck last year after placing our tower into service to right size our fleet for the needs of our citizens into the future. Looking ahead, we are expecting delivery of our new rescue engine by the end of 2027 to complete this effort.

The proceeds from the sale of the Edgecliff property, along with reduced operating expenses from running a single station, will be directly reinvested into this new apparatus, helping us continue providing the highest level of service.

We remain committed to protecting our community with professionalism, efficiency, and dedication—and we appreciate your continued support.

For those interested in the listing, the link will be posted in the comments.

Last evening members from LB #3 reviewed pump operations.

This year, LB3 is requiring all drivers and pump operators to “Re-Certify” with our organization that their knowledge of the apparatus they are approved to operate is solid.

This includes a small driving sample, operation of all equipment, knowledge of where equipment is, and pump operations.

This is will become an annual review and will follow a standard process. Once completed, the results will be reviewed by the Chief.

Just another example of our members staying ready and prepared.

This week, we want to take a moment to shine a well-deserved spotlight on the incredible women and men of the Lower Burrell VFC #3 EMS. Day in and day out, these dedicated professionals are the thin line between crisis and stability in our community.

When a medical emergency occurs, they answer the call with unmatched professionalism, elite competence, and a deep, genuine compassion for our residents. They see people on their absolute worst days and bring calm, skill, and comfort into chaos.

But behind the flashing lights and life-saving care is a harsh reality. Our EMS providers work an incredibly stressful, high-stakes job. On top of the daily mental and physical toll, it is no secret that EMS across Pennsylvania is currently in dire straits. Systematic funding shortages, staffing crises, and rising costs are putting immense pressure on departments statewide and LB #3 is not immune.

Despite these massive challenges, our Lower Burrell EMS Division never wavers. They continue to step up and show up for us every second of every single day.

To the PHRN's, Paramedics, EMT-A's, and EMT-B's that work for LB #3....Thank you.

We see your sacrifice, we appreciate your expertise, and we will ALWAYS stand behind you.

-Chief Brennan Sites

Lower Burrell Mayor Chris Fabry
The City of Lower Burrell

Starting today and throughout this entire week, we celebrate our EMS clinicians we have here at Lower Burrell EMS. Our staff is comprised of some of the most skilled and compassionate professionals that the industry has to offer and we are fortunate to have them here in LB!
This year's theme is "improving outcomes together". We will be kicking off the week tomorrow with some in house training working on difficult airway situations. We appreciate our staff and the contributions they make to facilitate this type of intense education!

Be sure to thank your local EMS professionals! The hours are long and the work they do is essential to our communities!
