Forget the final exam review sheet. Erin Lewis's AP Biology students at Lowell High School are spending their end-of-year review doing something far more memorable. Students have formed "tribes" and are competing head-to-head in immunity and reward challenges that test core biological concepts, experimental design, and lab skills learned throughout the year. Think Survivor but the only way to win is to actually know your biology. It's a creative, competitive, and genuinely fun way to review a year's worth of rigorous coursework, and proof that the best learning doesn't always look like learning at all.

Before the Class of 2026 walked across that stage last week, students in the transition skills class at Lowell High School spent time picking up trash around the stadium and chalking words of encouragement along the path graduates walked down the hill.
