Remembering 9/11 ...
Alan Jackson’s “Where Were You” remains one of country music’s most powerful reflections on September 11, asking Americans to remember where they stood when everything changed.
Jackson wrote the song only weeks after the 2001 attacks and first performed it nationally at the CMA Awards that November. Rather than turning the tragedy into politics, the song focused on ordinary people, fear, faith, grief, and the questions millions carried afterward.
Twenty five years later, those words still return on a day of national remembrance.
“Where Were You” became more than a country song. It became part of how America remembers September 11.
