Really excited about these new additions!!! Ink heart was one of my favorites growing up, and I'm currently reading my copy to my own kids, so imagine my delight when I found the complete hardcover series for FREE! And Eyewitness books are always a win!

New Junior Graphic Novels! My son really enjoyed the resistance series and generously donated it to the library for others to enjoy. Primates was my pick for May, and was a good addition in my effort to expand our non fiction for children.

Brand new books in today! So excited to start consciously adding to our children's non fiction section. With so many homeschool families in Lowell I really hope that these books will be utilized. If you haven't been in in awhile, come on in, take a look around, a lot has changed and the library is a great resource for your family.

It always feels good checking a goal off the to do list. Having our YA books clearly labeled will make them easier for teens to find and also easier for library employees to correctly shelve when they're returned.

Don't forget to stop in to the library this summer!

Summer reading at Johnson County Library - KS is almost here!

Research shows that kids who don’t practice reading skills during times when school is not in session can lose gains in ability made the previous academic year. Regular reading over the summer supports success during the coming school year, including increased test scores.

In fact, just 20 minutes of reading a day can provide exponential gains for a child’s exposure to language, the long-term amount of time engaged in text, and as a result a greater understanding of the world around them.
