I’m saddened by the passing of State Senator Ed Kennedy. We served together when he was Mayor and Chair of the School Committee, and we quickly became friends. During that time, I came to deeply value his wisdom, open-mindedness, and sharp political instincts. Ed was a dedicated public servant and Lowell legend.

For years we had a running joke that I named my daughter Kennedy in his honor — until he visited my office and saw all the memorabilia from a different Kennedy clan. He just laughed and shook his head. It’s one of my favorite memories of our friendship.

My deepest sympathy to his family and friends that he cherished and was so proud of.

Rest in peace, Ed.

LOWELL — The residents of Christian Hill came out to voice their alarm at a proposed development of 17 single-family homes being built around the perimeter of what they said was wetlands protected …

When I joined LCCPS, I made it a mission to launch this program for our families. After three years of trying to secure the funding and staffing, we were able to launch this incredible program to teach English to our parents.

So appreciative to be part of this team that supports every member of our community, including our adult learners.
