Lea County Sheriff's Office Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash
LEA COUNTY, N.M.— On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at approximately 10:16 a.m., the Lea County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit was dispatched to the area of West Gum Street and Ashly Lane in reference to a motorcycle crash.
Deputies arrived on scene and located an adult male in the roadway on Gum Street. A burnt orange Harley-Davidson motorcycle with significant damage was located further west of the victim, off the north side of the roadway.
The driver of the Harley Davidson, identified as Chadwick Taylor, 49, of Lovington, New Mexico, sustained fatal injuries as a result of this crash. The Lea County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit responded and is conducting the crash investigation.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
