Twenty-five years ago, on September 11th, life for every American changed. This morning, the Lovettsville community gathered to pay tribute to those that rose to the occasion on that day and remember those who were lost to this act of terrorism.

The Town of Lovettsville would like to thank members of Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Lovettsville American Legion Post 1836, MCL-Loudoun County Marine Corps League Detachment 1205, the LOVETTSVILLE LIONS CLUB, Cub Scout Pack 962 - Lovettsville, Lovettsville Town Council, Town staff, and all members of the community who gathered this morning to show that Lovettsville will NEVER FORGET! 🇺🇸

📌 Town Administrative Offices will be closed on Friday, September 11, 2026, in observance of Patriot Day. Please join us at the Lovettsville Veterans Memorial located at Zoldos Square/the "Squirkle" at 8:30AM for our Lovettsville Patriot Day Ceremony.

We will resume normal business hours on Monday, September 14th at 8:30AM. Payments may be placed in the drive-by drop box located across from the porch behind the Lovettsville Museum.

Governor’s Flag Order in Memory of 9/11 Victims & First Responders on 25th Anniversary of Attacks

In accordance with the authority vested in me as Governor, I hereby order that the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia are to be flown at half-staff on all local, state, and federal buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in memory and respect of the nearly 3,000 innocent people killed in the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001. I join Virginians in honoring Patriot Day and remembering our fellow Americans who never returned home that day, the families who continue to carry the burden of that loss, and the profound stories of courage and heroism that emerged in the face of unimaginable tragedy. We honor the firefighters, police officers, and first responders who rushed toward danger at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the heroic passengers and flight attendants aboard Flight 93 who prevented another attack, and the countless Americans who came together, comforted strangers, and answered the call to serve our nation and fight terrorism.

I hereby order that the flags shall be lowered at sunrise on Friday, September 11, 2026, and remain at half-staff until sunset.

🇺🇸 2,977 flags were placed in the middle of town on Tuesday to honor those we lost on September 11, 2001 ahead of our Lovettsville Patriot Day Ceremony tomorrow, September 11th at 8:30AM. Thank you to the members of MCL-Loudoun County Marine Corps League Detachment 1205, Lovettsville American Legion Post 1836, LOVETTSVILLE LIONS CLUB, Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Cub Scout Pack 962 - Lovettsville, Scouts BSA Troop 962G, members of the Lovettsville Town Council, Lovettsville Planning Commission, and our community members for coming out to help us lay all 2,977 flags. Please join us tomorrow for our Lovettsville Patriot Day Ceremony at 8:30AM at the Lovettsville Veterans Memorial at Zoldos Square/the "Squirkle" as we reflect, honor, and remember. Lovettsville will NEVER forget!

📌 Twenty-five years ago, on September 11th, 2001, life for every American changed. Lovettsville has observed Patriot Day in some way since its first designation in 2002. This year, on Friday, September 11th at 8:30AM, we will continue to honor those that lost their lives with moments of silence at the respective times throughout our Lovettsville Patriot Day Ceremony.

Patriot Day: Flag Placement Help
If you are able to help, the Town will be working with youth groups and other service organizations on Tuesday, September 8th at 5:00PM to place 2,977 flags in honor of those lost September 11th, 2001. No sign up is necessary. Please bring a screwdriver to help with placement of flags.
