πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Thank You for Honoring Our Nation's Flag πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

The Town of Lovettsville would like to extend a thank you to everyone who participated in and attended Sunday's Flag Day and Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Samuel A. Finz Municipal Complex.

A special thank you goes to Cub Scout Pack 962 - Lovettsville's Arrow of Light Girls Den and local area Scout, Scout leaders, and volunteers who led this year's ceremony and helped ensure that worn and tattered American flags were retired with the dignity and respect they deserve.

If you have an American flag that is no longer fit for display, please remember that flags may be dropped off at Town Hall year-round for proper retirement at future ceremonies.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this meaningful tradition possible.

Flag Day and Flag Retirement Ceremony

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson designated June 14th as Flag Day in the United States. In Lovettsville, we are blessed to have active Scouting and Service Organizations who continue to celebrate the stars and stripes and educate the public on the proper way to retire the American Flag.

If anyone has an American Flag that is no longer in condition to display, local service and scouting organizations will be holding a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Samuel A. Finz Municipal Complex this Flag Day, Sunday, June 14, at 6:30PM in front of Town Hall, and they would be happy to properly and respectfully retire your flag for you.

If you have flags that need to be retired, they can be dropped off at Town Hall Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 4:30PM year-round for proper retirement at our annual Flag Retirement Ceremony.

The Town of Lovettsville would like to thank Scout Pack 962 - Lovettsville 's Arrow of Light Girls Den and local area Scouts for leading this year's Retirement Ceremony.

πŸš‘πŸŽ‰ Have You Ever Heard of an Ambulance Push-In Ceremony? πŸŽ‰πŸš‘

Join the Volunteer Fire and Rescue on Sunday, June 14th at 4:00 p.m. as they welcome a new ambulance into service with a traditional Push-In Ceremony!

❓ What is a Push-In Ceremony?
Before fire stations had modern garage doors and drive-through bays, firefighters had to physically push their horse-drawn apparatus back into the station after returning from calls. Today's Push-In Ceremonies honor that tradition by inviting members of the department and community to help push a new emergency vehicle into its home at the station.

❓ Why is it significant?
A Push-In Ceremony is more than just a celebration of a new vehicle, it marks the beginning of that vehicle's service to the community. It is an opportunity to recognize the volunteers, donors, and supporters who help make emergency response possible, while honoring the history and traditions of the fire service.

❓ Can the public attend?
Absolutely! Community members are encouraged to attend, learn more about the new ambulance, meet local first responders, and take part in this special tradition.
