The position offers $27.80–$35.81 per hour plus benefits. Mechanical/Public Works experience and a Class B CDL are preferred. Applicants must also be able to meet physical requirements and work outdoors, including weekends, holidays and on-call as needed. Remembering a Loves Park Hero 🇺🇸

Following last week’s City Council meeting, a memorial dedication was held in honor of Robert H. Schlensker Sr. (1930–1986) and his incredible act of heroism on August 30, 1961.

At just 30 years old, Schlensker volunteered to be lowered into a narrow, 60-foot-deep well to rescue 8-year-old Scott D. Addams, who had fallen inside. Despite the dangerous conditions and incredibly tight space, Schlensker reached Scott and helped bring him safely to the surface.

Today, a memorial honoring Schlensker and his heroic actions stands in the green space near the 4600 block of Arlington Street in Loves Park, ensuring his story and legacy continue to be remembered by our community.

His courage and selflessness earned him recognition for heroism and left a lasting mark on the Loves Park community. ❤️

On this day, September 11th, we remember.

This morning, first responders and community members gathered at the Winnebago County 9/11 Emergency Responders Memorial to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the devastating attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.

Together, we honored and remembered the lives lost, including the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and reflected on the courage, strength, and unity shown in the days that followed.

Today, we remember. 🇺🇸

At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, September 8, the City took a moment to recognize the upcoming POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony. 🇺🇸

Join us on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 6:30 PM at City Hall as we remember and pay tribute to those who were held as Prisoners of War and those who remain Missing in Action. This annual ceremony is an opportunity for our community to come together, remember their sacrifices, and recognize the courage and service of those who gave so much for our freedom.
