New Downtown Traffic Signal Activates September 21

The new traffic signal at the Little Miami Scenic Trail crossing on West Loveland Avenue is nearly ready! The new signals will be fully active beginning Monday, September 21.

The new signal will coordinate vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic at the trail crossing. Pedestrian and bike signals will be synchronized with the nearby traffic lights at State Route 48 and Karl Brown Way to help maintain the flow of vehicle traffic through downtown.

Once active, bicyclists and pedestrians will follow traditional pedestrian traffic signals — walk and hand (don't walk) — and should wait for the appropriate signal before crossing.

Loveland Police Department officers will be on site during the implementation period to help trail users and motorists adjust to the new traffic pattern and promote safety.

Please use caution and watch for the new signals as everyone gets accustomed to the changes.

Loveland Spotlight: Evagoras Papasavvas

It’s been a little over a year since we last spotlighted Loveland resident and racecar driver Evagoras Papasavvas, and a lot has happened since then! Evagoras is having an incredible season, currently leading his open-wheel racing championship and consistently finishing on the podium.

This season has included some impressive comebacks. At the Indianapolis race, Evagoras started 15th after receiving a qualifying penalty and worked his way through the field to finish second. In New Jersey, he was battling for the lead when his front wing broke off. Rather than give up, he managed the damaged car and went on to win the race. At another Indy race, a mechanical failure made his car difficult to handle, but he adapted and still finished third.

Those experiences have helped Evagoras build confidence behind the wheel. After years of racing since he was six years old, he says he has learned to stay calm, adapt quickly and prepare for whatever happens. That preparation extends well beyond race day — his race weekends begin days in advance with track walks, practice and qualifying. This season, he reached an incredible 165 mph in Wisconsin!

With three races remaining, Evagoras will travel to Canada in September, followed by races in Virginia and Alabama. Looking ahead, his goal is to compete in a full INDY NXT season next year, putting him one step closer to IndyCar and ultimately the Indianapolis 500. Reaching that next level requires significant sponsorship and support, and Evagoras is grateful for the recognition and encouragement he continues to receive from both Loveland and the Cincinnati community. Join Evagoras on his journey by becoming a sponsor and helping a talented Loveland athlete take his racing career to the next level.

That support means more than just cheering from the sidelines. Evagoras says it’s a great feeling when he’s out in the community and someone recognizes him as "the racecar driver." Knowing that people in Loveland know his story, follow his races and are proud of what he’s accomplishing gives him an extra layer of confidence.

And when he’s not racing, Evagoras is preparing for another big milestone: his first year at the University of Cincinnati, where he plans to study aerospace engineering. From his early days racing go-karts to competing on the national stage, Loveland has been there along the way — and we’re proud to continue cheering him on!
