Meals On Wheels of Loveland & Berthoud, Inc.

Meals On Wheels of Loveland & Berthoud, Inc. Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud supports the homebound with healthy meals and socialization.

Established in 1968, Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud, Inc. became the first home delivered meal service program west of the Mississippi River. Dorothy Morin and Helen Erion, program founders, sought cooperation from the United Fund and other individuals concerned with the need for good nutrition and socialization for the homebound. The first twelve meals were prepared at the Elk’s Club ki

tchen and delivered on January 26, 1968. Today, we operate out of our own commercial grade kitchen, making and delivering over 200 meals each day!

At Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud, community care is something we practice every day through mutual aid—volunteers, staff, donors, and clients all supporting each other in different ways. It’s not just one-way giving; meals are delivered, but so are connection, conversation, and a real sense of belonging. Even small things like our book and plant swaps in the lobby show how care and generosity naturally circulate through our community. Come check out how you can become part of the community!

Belonging is more than a value - it’s something we create together. 🤲 🤗

Our latest blog highlights a special partnership with Bill Reed Middle School, just before school let out for summer break, where students used art, creativity, and inclusion to remind our homebound neighbors that they are seen, valued, and connected.

We're looking forward to more collaborative projects when the halls buzz with life again this fall. Until then, we hope everyone is enjoying their summer break 🌞

With over 3,000 nonprofits in Larimer County alone, it can be easy to fall into the trap of competing for resources. But at Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud, we believe we are far stronger when we work together through symbiotic relationships.

Our new Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager, Jennifer, recently teamed up with Alani from Partners (a fantastic local youth-mentoring organization) to discuss a new joint effort to cross-promote volunteer opportunities across Northern Colorado. Whether supporting local youth or homebound older adults, our ultimate goals are the same: a stronger, more connected community. By collaborating instead of competing, we can ensure that community members find the right place to give back.

This Saturday, May 30th, we are thrilled to be the official nonprofit partner for the Loveland Downtown District Blues & Cruise classic car show! Come downtown from 10 AM to 3 PM to check out some incredible pre-1980 classic cars and listen to some amazing live blues.

But wait, there’s a twist...

We’re hosting our first annual Wiggle Car Races! 😂
It’s a friendly, donation-based obstacle course where you can try your hand at "delivering" a meal. They might be made for kids, but our staff tested them out yesterday and we can confirm: they are hilarious for adults, too.

Where: The Foundry Plaza (near the stage on 3rd St. between Lincoln & Cleveland)

Our Executive Director, Jeffrey, will be there all day cheering on the racers. He might even be talked into a race himself if you challenge him! 😉

Come follow the laughing and help us fuel meals! See you Saturday! 👇

National Volunteer Appreciation Week may have officially wrapped up last week, but the spirit of service it celebrates remains the driving force of MOWLB every day of the year.

National Volunteer Appreciation Week! - We couldn’t close out our week of celebration without highlighting a group that often works behind the scenes but carries an incredibly important and weighty responsibility: our Board of Directors. 🏛️💙

These volunteers bring an invaluable variety of professional skills and personal backgrounds to the table, contributing over 100 hours of meeting time annually to guide the vision and sustainability of MOWLB. Their stewardship ensures we can continue serving our neighbors for years to come.

Furthermore, our Board has a "hands-on" heart for the mission. Nearly half of our Board members are also active meal delivery drivers, and you can often find them helping out at community events as well. They don't just lead from a conference room - they serve alongside us on the routes and in the community every single day.

To our Board: THANK YOU for your leadership, your expertise, and your tireless commitment to our mission. We are so grateful for your dedication!
