FAKE AND COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY. REAL PROBLEMS.

If your cash drawer has started looking like Monopoly money, you’re not alone. Unfortunately, unlike the board game, nobody passes “GO” and collects $200 after accepting a fake twenty or hundred.

Loveland business owners, employees, and residents asked for more information on fake and counterfeit currency, how to spot it, and what to do when it shows up. Chief Doran listened and helped launch an opportunity worth attending.

Next week, the Loveland Police Department will host members of the United States Secret Service for a community presentation focused on fake and counterfeit currency investigations, detection, and reporting.

DATE: Wednesday, June 3
TIME: 5:30 p.m.
DOORS OPEN: 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Loveland Police Department Police Institute
810 E. 10th Street, Loveland

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
• How to identify counterfeit currency
• Common fraud trends impacting local businesses
• What to do if fake money lands in your hands
• The proper reporting process and investigative steps

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Loveland business owners, employees, cash handlers, and residents interested in protecting themselves and local businesses from counterfeit activity.

This event came directly from community feedback following a noticeable increase in fraudulent and counterfeit bills circulating through local businesses over the last several months.

Admission always remains free, but seating caps at the first 100 attendees. No RSVP needed. Just arrive early and claim your seat.

Because while Monopoly money might buy Boardwalk, fake bills in real life usually only buy paperwork and headaches.

It was a pleasure to join fellow elected leaders and community members at the Un-Gala for Homeward Alliance. Grateful for the work they do every day to support our community locally and regionally.

Homeward Alliance does such great work for our community, and it was wonderful to see our community do the work for them this evening at their annual fundraising Un-Gala. Thanks to all who contributed!

Jen Lewin (Jen Lewin Studio) has been commissioned to create Bloom, a colorful 10-piece structural installation to enhance the HIP Streets five-block downtown improvement project.

Earlier this year, Bloom was unanimously selected from the top four design presentations by the 16-member artwork jury. The artwork features ten permanent installations for 4th Street, spanning multiple sites between Garfield Avenue and North Lincoln Avenue. A series of luminous “petals,” each built from laser-cut aluminum, integrated lighting, and dichroic acrylic, gathers into chromatic “trees” that read as floating leaves or wings overhead. This installation will be completed in early 2027!
