FAKE AND COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY. REAL PROBLEMS.
If your cash drawer has started looking like Monopoly money, you’re not alone. Unfortunately, unlike the board game, nobody passes “GO” and collects $200 after accepting a fake twenty or hundred.
Loveland business owners, employees, and residents asked for more information on fake and counterfeit currency, how to spot it, and what to do when it shows up. Chief Doran listened and helped launch an opportunity worth attending.
Next week, the Loveland Police Department will host members of the United States Secret Service for a community presentation focused on fake and counterfeit currency investigations, detection, and reporting.
DATE: Wednesday, June 3
TIME: 5:30 p.m.
DOORS OPEN: 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Loveland Police Department Police Institute
810 E. 10th Street, Loveland
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
• How to identify counterfeit currency
• Common fraud trends impacting local businesses
• What to do if fake money lands in your hands
• The proper reporting process and investigative steps
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Loveland business owners, employees, cash handlers, and residents interested in protecting themselves and local businesses from counterfeit activity.
This event came directly from community feedback following a noticeable increase in fraudulent and counterfeit bills circulating through local businesses over the last several months.
Admission always remains free, but seating caps at the first 100 attendees. No RSVP needed. Just arrive early and claim your seat.
Because while Monopoly money might buy Boardwalk, fake bills in real life usually only buy paperwork and headaches.
