The City of Lovejoy will hold a public hearing on proposed citywide zoning amendments on:

Monday, September 21, 2026
7:00 p.m.
Lovejoy City Hall
2296 Talmadge Road

The proposed amendments include certain zoning definitions, Residential Agriculture provisions, and Special Administrative Permit provisions.

Important: These changes have NOT been adopted.
The public hearing is part of the City’s review and legislative process.

Residents are encouraged to review the proposal, attend the hearing, ask questions, and provide input before final action is taken.

Lovejoy Police Department Investigating Shooting:
Lovejoy, GA – The Lovejoy Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on 09/13/2026 at approximately 5:10 P.M. in the area 11622 Hastings Bridge Rd.

Lovejoy Officers responded to the location after receiving a 911 call regarding a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, Officers located a juvenile male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was provided medical attention and transported by emergency medical personnel to a medical facility. The victim’s condition is stable at this time.

During the initial response, officers detained several individuals believed to be involved in the incident. Following the preliminary investigation an arrest has been made.

Detectives with the Lovejoy Police Department Criminal Investigative Division are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Investigators are conducting interviews, collecting evidence, and working to establish the events leading up to the incident.

At this time, investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no known threat to the general public.

Anyone with information concerning the incident, including anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has surveillance or cellphone video from the area, is encouraged to contact the Lovejoy Police Department at (678) 610-9748.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. The information contained in this release is preliminary and may be updated as the investigation continues.

On this 25th anniversary, we honor the victims, survivors, first responders, service members, and countless individuals whose courage and compassion united our country during one of its darkest moments.

NEWS RELEASE: Clayton County Receives Two Grants from ARC

(Clayton County, GA) – Clayton County secured two multi-million-dollar grants from the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC). The $13.4 million investment will support critical transportation and safety improvements in Clayton County.

“This is great news for Clayton County and shows our commitment to improve county transit and pedestrian safety,” said Clayton County Chairwoman, Dr. Alieka Anderson-Henry. “We are continuing to move Clayton forward to create a better place for our residents.”

$5.4 million has been awarded for Right-of-Way. This project will focus on pedestrian safety efforts on Tara Boulevard to make the area safer and more accessible for people walking, biking, and using transit. The goal is to reduce serious crashes while expanding access to jobs, services, and other destinations along the roadway.

$8 million has been awarded for Construction of the Multipurpose Operations and Maintenance Facility. In an effort to strengthen the region’s transit infrastructure and improve the reliability of county bus operation, a new hub powering zero emission ready transit service is set to be constructed.

“These investments represent more than transportation funding, they represent greater safety, mobility, economic opportunity, and an improved quality of life for Clayton County residents,” said Anna Roach, ARC Executive Director and CEO. They also demonstrate what can be accomplished through communication, collaboration, and a shared commitment to regional progress.”
