🍂🧹 District 4, Let’s Clean Up Our Community! 🌳💚

Help make District 4 a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful place by participating in the Fall Community-Wide Cleanup on Saturday, October 24!

Whether you’re an individual, family, neighborhood group, school, business, nonprofit organization, or community association—we want you to be part of it!

✨ This year, we’re especially challenging all 12 neighborhoods in District 4 to participate! We’d also love to see as many District 4 nonprofits as possible join us.

When we work together, we can:
🌱 Strengthen neighborhood pride
🧹 Beautify our streets and public spaces
🤝 Build stronger community connections
💪 Make an even greater impact across District 4

And we’re making it easy! Participants will receive free cleanup supplies, and collected bags will be picked up after the cleanup.

🕊️ From Louisville to Liberty: The Blackburns’ Journey

An enslaved couple in Louisville. A daring escape. A jailbreak. And ultimately, a new life in Canada.

Join us on Tuesday, September 15 during Underground Railroad Month to discover the incredible story of Thornton and Lucie Blackburn and their journey from enslavement to freedom.

Historian, archaeologist and author Karolyn Smardz Frost, who uncovered the Blackburns’ story in Toronto, will join us alongside:

🔹 Hannah Drake & Josh Miller of the (Un)Known Project
🔹 Lamont Collins of Roots 101
🔹 Rachel Platt of the Frazier Kentucky History Museum, who traveled to Toronto to further explore the couple’s story

For the first time in the United States, artifacts belonging to the Blackburns will be shared as part of the exhibit and this special program.
