🚨 TODAY IS THE DAY – COME OUT AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT! 🚨

The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is happening TODAY (May 5, 2026) right here in our community!

This is not a race—it’s a 5K fun run/walk, open to all ages and completely free to the public. Whether you run, walk, or just show up, your presence means more than you know to the athletes and participants.

💙 These events carry real meaning for those involved, and the support from our community makes a lasting impact.

Motorists should expect temporary traffic delays in the North Columbus Avenue area during the event. Please be patient and use caution around participants and public safety personnel.

If you’re in the area but unable to join in, we encourage you to:
• Give a quick horn honk
• Wave as participants pass
• Safely pull over and cheer them on

It has rained all night,.
Don't let that stop you.
For some it may be too wet to get outside for participation in the this morning .
However the rain should not stop your progress!
Move with the Mayor is about more than meeting up at 8:00 AM on the second and fourth Saturdays—it’s about making movement a part of your everyday life.
Find what works best for you and keep going, rain or shine. This weekend, if the weather keeps you indoors, try an inside workout such as yoga, walking in place, stretching, or any home workout that keeps you active and feeling your best.
Take time for yourself, prioritize your health, and keep moving forward.

Move with the Mayor is more than just a walk—it’s about building a stronger, healthier community together. We meet every 2nd and 4th Saturday, but the real goal is to keep moving every single day.

Today, I saw people on their lunch break getting out and walking, making time for their health no matter how busy life gets. That’s what it’s all about—neighbors encouraging neighbors and choosing to do better together.

No matter where you are in your day, take a few minutes for yourself. Walk, run, or hit the gym with a friend—just get moving. Every step you take is a step toward a healthier you and a stronger community.
