As Mental Health Awareness Month ends, we want to thank youth workers everywhere for the care, compassion, and consistency you bring to young people every day. Your presence matters more than you know. Don’t forget to check in with yourself, too. You deserve support, and NSPN is here to help.

We’re proud to share Tammy L. Hopper is once again representing National Safe Place Network at a conference this week, this time at Supervised Visitation Network's annual conference in New Orleans.

Tammy will be presenting on The Critical Nature of Child and Youth Work, highlighting the shared commitment professionals bring across youth-serving settings and the growing role of Child and Youth Care (C*C) Certification, recognized by the Council on Accreditation. Her session explores how certification strengthens ethical practice, reduces organizational risk, and supports stronger staff satisfaction and long-term employee retention.

Thank you to Supervised Visitation Network for the opportunity to share this important work with your attendees and to help elevate the impact of child and youth care professionals nationwide.

Writing a grant doesn’t always end after the first review. After revisions, many teams are left wondering: Did this actually make the proposal stronger—or just different?

That’s why NSPN’s grant support services include a second review at no additional cost after revisions, plus access to individual consultation along the way. These conversations give you space to work through alignment questions, language that doesn’t quite feel right, and budget or staffing justifications—before you submit.
Because having space to revisit your proposal can make all the difference in how confident you feel at submission.

Please note: Organizational membership with NSPN is required to access grant support services. Visit www.nspnetwork.org/grant-support-services to learn more or email us at [email protected].

Human traffickers are good at recruiting victims in ways that are hard to spot. It’s important to know how to recognize when someone might be targeting you or one of your friends. Visit www.tatnonprofit.org/youth to learn more about human trafficking and how you can make a difference.

NSPN at the Daniel Memorial Foster Care Conference (Daniel Memorial Conferences)! 🎉

This afternoon in Orlando, Tammy L. Hopper from National Safe Place Network is presenting two powerful workshops at the Daniel Memorial Foster Care Conference

🔹 Facing Your FEARS: Balancing Feelings, Expectations, Attitudes, and Reality in Work with Youth and Families
This session focuses on navigating the emotional and practical realities of supporting youth and families with confidence and care.

🔹 What Should I Do? Building the Capacity of New Leaders to Make Ethical Decisions
Based on the published article co‑authored by Ms. Hopper in the Journal of Child and Youth Care Work (https://acycpjournal.pitt.edu/ojs/jcycw/article/view/470/455), this workshop transforms research into action. Attendees will gain structured tools for analyzing ethical challenges and making values‑aligned decisions informed by current research.

We are honored to share NSPN’s expertise through these impactful workshops and to connect and network with fellow attendees and presenters who are equally committed to supporting youth, families, and those who serve them. 💙

To everyone working in youth-serving organizations—thank you. Your compassion, presence, and dedication make a difference every single day, even when the work is hard, heavy, or unseen.

This month is a reminder that your mental health matters, too.

Take a moment to pause. Breathe deeply. Check in with yourself the same way you so thoughtfully check in with the young people you serve.

You can’t pour from an empty cup—and caring for yourself is not a luxury, it’s essential. 💛

We see you. We appreciate you. And we encourage you to give yourself the same grace and care you give to others.

When RHY NOFOs are released, everything moves fast, and questions stack up. NSPN’s Weekly Grant Support Calls are working sessions (not presentations) designed to help you:
• Clarify NOFO language
• Talk through requirements
• Sanity-check narratives and budgets
• Get clarity before submission

You don’t have to have it all figured out. These calls help you think clearly when timelines are tight—and remind you you’re not alone.

📌 Available to NSPN members who purchase grant support services
📌Access opens in the NSPN Portal once NOFOs are published and services are purchased.

Human trafficking is a global issue, affecting nearly 50 million victims across the world. It’s also a local issue, as kids and adults alike are exploited in communities right here. Throughout the month of May, National Safe Place Network is partnering with TAT Nonprofit to share age-appropriate resources about this issue for youth and caregivers. It might be scary or sad to think about, but the good news is that we can all play a role in combating this issue. Visit www.tatnonprofit.org/youth to learn more.
