🌟 SPOTlight: Learning Around the Lemon Room! 🍋🌟

We’re heading into Mrs. Cara Jones’ first-grade “Lemon Room” at LES for our next SPOTlight — and these first graders are BUSY! 💙🐆

During their Benchmark Stations, students are moving around the room and learning in all kinds of ways — playing games, building words, completing a “walk the room” activity, reading from their book boxes, and listening to stories. 📚✏️

And then it’s time for math!

These little mathematicians are learning how to take a survey, collect their own data and turn their results into a graph! 📊🙌

Reading, building, listening, moving, surveying, graphing…and probably squeezing in a little first-grade fun along the way. 🍋😂

Thank you, Mrs. Jones, for sharing a peek inside the Lemon Room and letting us put your first graders in the SPOTlight! 🌟

🐾 Little Leps, Big Steps! 💙

Little hands have BIG things to learn! We’re kicking off a series with simple tips and fun activities families can try at home with their youngest Leopards.

This week, we’re putting those little fingers to work! 🖐️ Fine motor skills help children with everyday tasks like holding crayons, drawing, writing, and getting dressed. And practicing can feel just like play!

Try a few of these together:
🔹 Tear paper and turn the pieces into a colorful collage.
🔹 Peel stickers and create a masterpiece.
🔹 Squish, roll, and pinch playdough into pretend food.

⛳🐾 THEY WEREN’T IN THE CONVERSATION… SO THEY LET THEIR CLUBS DO THE TALKING! 🔥

Our Leopard golfers showed up BIG at the All American Conference tournament!

After a tough 0–7 start against AAC opponents—including four matches lost by just 1, 2, 3, and 4 strokes—Coach McFerren kept reminding the boys what they were capable of. At Louisville’s first conference tournament since 2018, they showed everyone else, too! 💪

The Leopards battled undefeated Canfield for the top spot right down to the final two holes, finishing just FIVE strokes behind them! Their 317 team score ranks ninth in Louisville Golf history since records began in 2001. And this group? Four sophomores and a freshman. 👀

🏆 Noah Ickes WON THE TOURNAMENT! His school-record 68 (4 under par) earned his third win of the season. He also set a school record with SEVEN birdies in one round!

🦅 Landon Lydick recorded the team’s first eagle of the season and tied his career best with a 79!

👏 Emilio Rodriguez shot an 81, beating his personal best by THREE strokes!

💙 Gunnar Greco battled to an 89, and Lucas Longacre rounded out the lineup with a 97.

And let’s hear it for our Lady Leopards, who finished FOURTH overall, led by senior Lauren Morris! ⛳👏

School records, personal bests, and plenty of reasons to be proud. Way to make your mark in the AAC, Leopards! 🐾💙
