Something as simple as mentoring β€” showing up, letting a child know they matter, and offering a listening ear β€” can change the trajectory of young lives for the better.

We see the proactive impact every year in our outcomes. When young people have a mentor, they make better decisions. They feel less depressed and more confident. More connected. More capable of doing great things. πŸ’š

When Lauren and Ja'Mia first met in 2016, Ja'Mia didn't say a single word. Today, she's a confident young woman who leads conversations with peers and adults alike β€” and this fall, she started her freshman year of college after working two jobs over the summer to prepare.

Over a decade together, Lauren and Ja'Mia have shared countless memories, from their very first outing β€” a picnic, playground time, and wading in the creek β€” to a recent all-day trip to Cincinnati celebrating Ja'Mia's graduation, their bond is proof of the power of mentorship.

We're celebrating this year by painting Kentuckiana green! Well, that would be messy so we're using lights. But you get the idea. 😎 From southern Indiana's Colgate Clock to Bardstown's Main Street Visitor Center, to spots all around the Louisville Metro, you'll be able to see our BBBS green throughout Kentuckiana on π…π«π’ππšπ², π’πžπ©π­. πŸπŸ–!
