๐บ๐ธ A Rainy Morning We Won't Forget ๐บ๐ธ
Being invited to stand with veterans at the Patriot Day Ceremony honoring 25 years since September 11th, at the 9/11 memorial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, was an honor our Color Guard cadets won't soon forget โ a memorial that carries a steel beam from the Twin Towers and bricks from the Pentagon.
Then the sky opened up!
Severe thunderstorms cancelled the main ceremony, but our cadets were ready to stand at attention and present the colors through the downpour, uniforms soaked. That's when members of the VFW and Honor Guard โ including a Marine veteran who served in Vietnam and Desert Storm โ came over, shared words of encouragement, and pressed challenge coins into their hands. In military tradition, that's not a small gesture.
25 years later, it was a group of people who understand what it means to show up when it's hard. Our cadets got a taste of that today, standing before pieces of that day itself.
We're proud beyond words. Thank you to everyone who welcomed our Color Guard into this moment.
