Today's prompt from our Hunger Action Month calendar: cook with what you have. Our pantry has all the bananas right now, so today that means banana bread with chocolate chips. There's a whole September calendar of small daily prompts like this one at the link in our bio. Everyone eats. 🍌

Recipe
1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
4 bananas, very ripe, mashed
2 tablespoons creme fraiche or sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate chips, lightly floured

1. Set oven to 350 degrees F. Line the bottom of a loaf pan with parchment paper.
2. Sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Beat sugar and eggs with a whisk until light and fluffy, about 10 minutes. Drizzle in oil. Add mashed bananas, creme fraiche, and vanilla. Fold in dry ingredients and chocolate chips. Pour into a lined loaf pan and bake for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Some neighbors can't get to a food pantry. So the pantry goes to them.

Our Mobile Pantry brings fresh groceries directly into neighborhoods across Boulder and Broomfield Counties with no car, no bus transfer, or other barrier required. Last year, the mobile pantry program made more than 9,500 visits and provided food to 4,135 neighbors right where they live.

Programs like this run on partnership, and we're grateful to Danone USA for supporting the Mobile Pantry. Through Danone's mission of bringing health through food to as many people as possible, Danone and Community Food Share ensure fresh, nutritious food reaches the communities that need it most.

September is Hunger Action Month, and this is what action looks like: a truck, a route, a partner who shows up. Thank you, Danone, for making this work possible.

At Community Food Share, everyone eats. Wherever they are.

Everyone in this video helps feed 60,000+ neighbors every year. And everyone in this video would tell you the same thing: they're not the whole story. Most of what moves food through this building comes from the people who don't work here. The donors, volunteers, food drive organizers, corporate and community partners, people who simply help a neighbor find us.

September is Hunger Action Month: a month for taking action on a simple fact. Right here in Boulder and Broomfield counties, 1 in 8 people - and 1 in 7 kids - experiences hunger. This month, your action goes further thanks to a community match of $50,000.

At Community Food Share, everyone eats. And during Hunger Action Month, you're an even bigger part of the how. Click on the link in our bio to help!

The pantry's looking good this week, and we're not just saying that......:

- Cabbage...she's back!
- Colorado grown Squash and Zucchini...always travelling in pairs.
- Tomatoes...bright red!
- Bananas...with their own carrying case!
- Limes...to zest up your day.
- And plenty more fresh produce and yummy frozen items too!

Saved you a spot. Come on by.

This week's report is made possible by the Town of Erie and this one's special. This is one of Erie's first-ever grants, and they chose to put it toward making sure their neighbors have enough to eat. Their support helps feed Erie residents at nearby Agency Partners and at our Feeding Families pantry in Louisville. There's something really special about a first grant going straight to the community, and we don't want it to go unnoticed. Thank you, Erie.

- Tomatoes...ready for a BLT
- Broccoli...tiny trees, big fans
- Green Peppers...bright green and delicious
- Fennel...the fanciest of greens
- Wild Alaska Po***ck fillets...a freezer delight
- Blackberries...get here before they're gone
- And more to pick up!

Come check out the pantry for yourself! We promise it's worth it.

This week's report is made possible by the Longmont City Council and Department of Human Services, whose 2026 grant of $54,225 has helped us serve more than 4,500 neighbors in just half the year β€” through twice-monthly Mobile Pantry distributions and the weekly Feeding Families pantry in Louisville. And here's the number that sticks with us: over 860 of those neighbors are kids ages 0–12. Their support is working hard in our communities.

Take a look at the Community Food Share class of yesteryear! Big backpacks, bigger smiles, and the excitement of meeting new friends.
They grew up great, by the way. These are just a few team members that are putting in the work for neighbors all over Boulder and Broomfield counties.
Tell us your first-day-of-school essential. Ours was clearly a fresh Trapper Keeper.
