Today, we are so proud to recognize the 6th anniversary of Prayers for Police, a program that began with a simple act of faith and a heartfelt desire to support the men and women of LMPD.
In 2020, during a time when our officers and community needed encouragement, Vicki Mosher began praying over scriptures for our officers and putting them on small cards designed to fit inside an officer’s uniform pocket. When we learned about Vicki’s cards, a partnership formed that helped the program grow.
Only six years later, Prayers for Police has sent Shield prayer cards to 34 countries in 11 languages, while continuing to support officers, their families, and communities right here at home. What began with the prayer cards has grown to include speakers, community outreach, devotionals and helping meet needs officers encounter in the field.
As LMPD Sergeant Christina Beaven shared:
“P4P not only provides prayer shield cards, but it has morphed into something only God could create.”
At the heart of it all is Vicki, our very own “Prayer Mom,” whose dedication to the men and women of the badge has never wavered.
As Tracie Shifflet, former Executive Director of the Louisville Metro Police Foundation, reflected:
“These cards may be small, but the message they carry is powerful: You are seen. You are appreciated. You are prayed for. You are not alone.”
We are so proud of what Prayers for Police has become and grateful for Vicki and everyone who has helped this mission grow.
What started with a few cards and a heart to pray for our officers has reached around the world. Six years later, the prayers continue.
