Blake Gerstner Elected Chair of the Louisville Democratic Party
Louisville, KY - June 10, 2026 – The Louisville Democratic Party today announced the election of Blake Gerstner as its new Chair. An attorney and labor organizer, Gerstner currently serves as a Union Representative with IBEW Local 369. Since becoming involved with the party in 2021, he has served as an At-Large Chair and Legislative District 40 Chair, and as a member of the Kentucky Democratic Party State Central Executive Committee. He also served as a delegate to the 2024 Democratic National Convention. Gerstner succeeds Logan Gatti, who is stepping down after six years in Louisville Democratic Party leadership.
In accepting the chair position, Gerstner expressed gratitude to the Executive Committee for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to electing Democrats in 2026 and beyond.
“With only 146 days until the 2026 general election, and just as close to the beginning of the 2027 statewide cycle, our Louisville Democratic Party needs Democrats to come together now more than ever. I am asking all Louisville Democrats, from Downtown to the South End, the West End to J-town, Prospect to Preston Highway: get involved. We have seats to flip, and we need your help!”
Gerstner's background in law, labor organizing, and Democratic politics reflects a belief that strong local parties are built through year-round engagement. As Chair, he plans to focus on volunteer development, leadership training, and expanding the party's grassroots infrastructure to engage Democrats in every corner of Jefferson County. His goal is to strengthen the party's ability to compete and win in 2026 while building the organization needed for the 2027 statewide cycle and future elections.
The Louisville Democratic Party's 56-member Executive Committee extends its congratulations to Chair Gerstner and looks forward to working together to elect Democrats across Jefferson County and advance Democratic values throughout the community.
