This year for our October Fundraiser is just a little different for us. This year we fight for Dixi. LFD Fire 29, East Winston VFD volunteer, 911 Dispatcher extraordinaire. She is currently in Houston receiving treatment for Lung Cancer. All proceeds from the shirt sales will go directly to her for costs associated with her fight. September 11, 2001 — We Will Never Forget 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced a day that forever changed America.

Today, the City of Louisville Fire Department pauses to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the first responders who ran toward danger while others were desperately trying to escape.

We remember the 343 FDNY firefighters, along with the law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, civilians, and countless others whose courage and sacrifice defined that day and the days that followed.

Twenty-five years have passed, but our promise remains the same:

We remember their courage.
We honor their sacrifice.
We carry their legacy forward.
We will never forget.

May we also remember the unity our nation found in the aftermath—the way Americans stood shoulder to shoulder, cared for their neighbors, and reminded the world that even in our darkest moments, we stand together.

From all of us at the Louisville Fire Department, we honor those who answered the call, those who gave their lives, and the families who continue to carry their memory.

⚠️ PUBLIC NOTICE — GAS LEAK / ROAD CLOSURE ⚠️

The City of Louisville Fire Department is currently on scene of a reported gas leak near the intersection of High Street and Metts Street.

🚧 ALL TRAFFIC IS CURRENTLY PROHIBITED IN THIS AREA.

For the safety of emergency personnel and the public, please avoid the area and use an alternate route until further notice.

Atmos Energy is en route to assist with the incident.

We will provide an update as soon as the area is safe and the roadway has been reopened.

Please do not attempt to drive around barricades or through the affected area.

TEAMWORK MAKES THE DIFFERENCE 🚒🤝

If you were wondering about the commotion this afternoon, the Louisville Fire Department responded to Taylor Sudden Service following a report of a possible fire involving an exterior wall area.

Thanks to the quick recognition and notification by Taylor’s maintenance personnel, the situation was identified early and LFD was able to respond before significant fire extension occurred.

Upon our arrival, facility personnel had disconnected power to the affected area and were assisting with access to the exterior wall. This allowed LFD personnel to expose and thoroughly inspect the affected area, address the remaining fire involvement, and confirm that there was no apparent extension into the interior of the building.

Incidents like this are a great example of why early recognition, prompt notification, and cooperation between industry and emergency responders matter. The coordinated efforts of Taylor personnel and Louisville firefighters helped bring the situation to a safe and positive conclusion.

We are fortunate to have industries in our community that maintain a strong working relationship with our department and personnel. We appreciate the cooperation of everyone involved today.

Taylor Power recently hosted fire inspectors from departments across Mississippi for an in-depth tour of our manufacturing facility. These talented first responders are honing their skills at the Mississippi Fire Academy to ensure safety and compliance in diverse environments, including manufacturing facilities.

A manufacturing facility presents a unique and intricate scenario for those responding to an emergency. The tour provided training and hands-on experience in inspecting a large-scale manufacturing operation, offering valuable insights into a real-world environment they could encounter.

Taylor Power has maintained a beneficial partnership with the Mississippi State Fire Academy, and we look forward to continuing this tradition of collaboration. We thank them for choosing Taylor Power as a location for their training.
