Congratulations PFC Dana Lopez on earning the Army Achievement Medal for being selected as the Soldier of the Cycle during Basic Combat Training.

New faces of KYARNG – PFC Dana Lopez, 20, recently completed basic training at Fort Jackson, SC and advanced individual training at Fort Lee, VA. She will be joining the 203rd Forward Support Company, 138th Field Artillery Brigade as a unit supply specialist (92Y).

Her father and his hard work supporting the family has been the biggest influence on her life.

“I wanted to serve my country but still be close to my family,” she said. “My family is a really big part of my life.”

She hopes to be an officer in the future.

Lopez plans to attend college in about a year to study nursing. She is currently undecided on where she will attend college.

Lopez was an honor graduate.

Holiday Family Dinner

Family is a very important part of a Soldier being able to excel in their military career. So this month we invited families to come join us for a Holiday Meal…. And when they food out we were serving TACOS… they all came!

I want to thank our are Louisville Recruiting Team and UofL ROTC Cadets for all they do to help our Soldiers prepare for training. But mostly I want to thank the Families for their continued support.

Today in preparation for Basic Combat Training, Warriors learned Disassembly & Assembly and Functions Check for both the M4 Carbine and M9 Pistol.

At Louisville RSP we just don't prepare are Warriors to succeed, we prepare them to he the best!

This week another group of Louisville RSP SPARTANS finished up there time with RSP and participated in the First Fornation Patching Ceremony.

These soldiers have officially been patched into there units within the Kentucky Army National Guard.

Once again another SPARTAN is in the Spotlight!

As Public Affairs professionals, or Mass Communication Specialists, we are normally behind the camera.

However, on the occasion we get to highlight one of our own.

PFC Georgia Napier is a Louisville native attending Western Kentucky University with hopes of a degree in advertising and marketing. She opted to join public affairs because the skillsets she would learn are transferable to her desired civilian professional goals.

"My family is military," she said. "My grandma has a wall of her son's photos during service and her own. I would always look at it and imagine myself on it. So here I am."

She is thankful for the support of her family and referenced a quote her aunt told her when she was pushing through basic training and AIT.

You cannot grow if you are not challenging yourself, -- do the hard stuff to get better.

Great words of affirmation to live by PFC Napier.
