The Rotary Club of Louisiana, Missouri

The Rotary Club of Louisiana, Missouri We meet every Thursday at noon for lunch, at the First Baptist Church Activity Center, 608 South Carolina St. What is Rotary? Why Rotary?

Enter through the southeast door from the parking lot. Come join us for fellowship and to better the community and world. Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the worl

d. There are over 34,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Club membership represents a cross-section of the community's business & professional men and women. The world's Rotary clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto Service Above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. Although Rotary clubs develop autonomous service programs, all Rotarians worldwide are currently united in a campaign for the global eradication of polio. PolioPlus, the most ambitious program in Rotary’s history, is the volunteer arm of the global partnership dedicated to eradicating polio. For more than 20 years, Rotary has led the private sector in the global effort to rid the world of this crippling disease. Today, PolioPlus and its role in the initiative is recognized worldwide as a model of public-private cooperation in pursuit of a humanitarian goal. Thank you for your interest in becoming a Rotarian. Rotary International is an association of individual clubs, with each club operating autonomously. Membership is extremely important to us, and we are always eager to hear from individuals interested in our mission and in joining a Rotary club. The RI universal premise is that the membership of each club constitutes an accurate representation of the business and professional population within the community served. Rotarians are business, professional, and community leaders who take an active role in their communities while greatly enriching their personal and professional lives. A Rotary club contains a diverse group of professional leaders from the community that the club serves. As a large and diverse organization, Rotary provides individuals with the power to help those in need. There are countless opportunities to make a difference to those less fortunate than ourselves. Membership in a Rotary club offers a number of benefits including:

FRIENDSHIP - In an increasingly complex world, Rotary maintains a simple philosophy - make friends in your own community and throughout the world. GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY - Through Rotary, service to local and overseas communities is well organized and rewarding. If you like helping others, here is your chance to do something worthwhile and make a real difference. FUN AND ENTERTAINMENT - Rotary is fun... a lot of fun. Every Rotary club and district arranges parties and activities that provide a welcome distraction to a hectic business life. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - Networking opportunities are endless. Rotary consists of a cross-section from every business community and its members come from all walks of life. Rotarians help each other and collectively help others. PERSONAL GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT - Membership of Rotary develops leadership, public speaking, social, business, personal and vocational skills as well as improving cultural awareness. CONTINUED LEARNING - Clubs organize programs and weekly meetings to keep members informed about what is going on in the community, the country, and the world. Each meeting provides an opportunity to listen to different speakers on a variety of current topics. TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES - Every Rotarian is welcome - even encouraged - to attend any of the 34,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographical regions. This bond creates an instant friendship wherever you are in the world. Many a Rotarian in need of a local doctor, lawyer, hotel, dentist, or other expertise while traveling has found assistance through Rotary. Through Rotary International's service programs, a Rotary club can have a significant effect on the quality of life in its community. Rotary Foundation programs offer opportunities to form international partnerships that help people in need worldwide. At a banquet held at Gambino's Eatery on June 18, the Louisiana Rotary Club honored the LHS students who won a $1,000 scholarship by inviting them and their families to join the club's annual installation and awards event.

In addition to presenting Shawn Geralds with the Rotarian of the Year award, several members received Perfect Attendance pins and also Paul Harris Fellow pins.

Outgoing president Brenda Miller was given a standing ovation for the outstanding job she has done during the past year. New directors and officers were officially installed, and the club is ready to begin another productive year with several definite plans already in place.

6/11/26: Rotarian of the Day Sally Haddock introduced us to her daughter, Beth Bartell, who serves as Student Support Specialist at St. Charles Community College (SCC).

Celebrating its 40th year, SCC has four campuses, including main campus at Cottleville, and Dardenne Creek. It is a public, two-year community college, offering associate degrees and certificate programs in business, technology, manufacturing, engineering, agriculture, culinary arts education, science, nursing/healthcare, art, humanities, the trades, and more.

It appeals to both newly graduated highschoolers as well as older adults who are looking to change or expand their formal education. Tuition help is available through the Missouri A-Plus program and even some fast-track grants for those returning adults.

Beth presented her school with such knowledge and enthusiasm that many of us were almost ready to sign back up for classes!! Thanks, Beth, for sharing your love for education! To learn more about SCC, check them out online at stchas.edu

The Louisiana Rotary Club sincerely thanks the management of Speed Commerce for their generosity in providing a storage room for our Sleep in Heavenly Peace beds and bedding in the recent past. Since they now have other plans for that space, we approached Brad Sparks of Legion Industrial Equipment about the possibility of using part of their new business in the former PJ Printing Building in the Industrial Park. They not only provided us with an easy-access and convenient space, but some of their workers assisted us with the move!

What a joy to see how many people in our area support the efforts of the Sleep In Heavenly Peace Project!

We are SO glad we get to celebrate birthdays with our members!! Happy Birthday, Greg D, and many, many more!

6/4/26: Rotarian of the Day Eric Gearing treated us to a presentation by Leah Diffey, a resident Certified Emotion Code Practitioner (CECP) and Herbalist.

Many of us know Leah from her business called The Farmacy, where she introduced us to her tinctures and salves at our local farmers market. In addition to these products, she is also a CECP who offers a specialized type of emotional release therapy based on work by Dr. Brandley Nelson, author of “The Emotion Code Book.”

Leah has helped many over the last five years through this natural health approach. For more information, contact her through her website at www.diffeyfarmacy.com

Thanks for the very interesting program, Leah!

5/28/26: Rotarian of the Day Pat Glenn introduced us to Ryan Talkington, ag instructor with Bowling Green High School and member of the Pike County Youth Fair Board.

Ryan shared the progress of the new building going up at the fairground (Phase One), and how it is scheduled to be in use by this year’s Pike County Fair, July 28th to August 1st. The 80’x250’ building is a perfect example of individuals, companies, and corporations working together for the betterment of youth in our community.

5/21/26: Rotarian of the Day John Lynn brought us a program with a familiar face: Bill Maupin, former pastor of the First Baptist Church - Louisiana, MO and recently published author.

Bill talked to us about purpose in life, living it with compassion, consciousness, communication and commitment, all the things that the church aspires to as does Rotary.

His inspiring book, entitled Joy in the Journey, was written following the loss of his 48 year old daughter to cancer. It can be found online at: https://www.amazon.com/JOY-JOURNEY-Inspiring-Stories-Journey/dp/B0FN6L93VD/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&dib_tag=se&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.MkJb5uqreb8NisQjthLnocw-v-zN0czkabN8r1SVbDuoh3S7vRSqCK_FZ4o7jKgkcDk2gt0yj6x8ycbVijFDYc-l1YSPwA44hPBnnTu3AFF4V1y0nAULD-VNMPN-_qclz5XWFM-_HjhJnT6Z6V6U04irTp7Ep5ZYm3cWrv4pIqI7cxkywyBwz2-ChLkzPr8ylrsZaDPsUEIYrVTSrCU5KL6kRFHZXJQjbOwmQ0nwEw8gGgk4WOCkbAtjCGz1VKI6gon0JtczvWq00NJlLVLezU9aCes2Z1Fg0DND1jXvW6k.UF3xL33VlGPiHmGd574-g50t1YP_sH7vr5kovSU-KhQ&qid=1779475261&sr=8-11
