At approximately 1:00 PM yesterday, a citizen contacted us to report a water leak. Upon investigation, crews discovered two separate water leaks roughly 200 feet apart. After the first leak was repaired, water continued to surface near the second location. Further excavation revealed that this was not the actual leak location; instead, water had traveled through an abandoned gas main and surfaced at that point.

Because the point of entry into the abandoned main was unknown, we contacted the Missouri Rural Water Association and requested assistance with specialized listening equipment to accurately locate the source of the leak. At approximately 5:00 PM today, the leak was successfully located and repaired which was almost 4 blocks away from surface location.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Missouri Rural Water Association for their quick response and assistance, the Street Department for their help with the first repair, and—most importantly—the Distribution Crew for working through wind, rain, and challenging underground utilities to get this leak repaired.
