Since the desegregation of Franklin County public schools in 1968, Dr. Beverly Joseph from Franklinton made history as the first African American woman elected to the merged Franklin County Board of Education. She was first elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2008.
During her second term, she resigned to become the assistant superintendent for student services and exceptional children.
Dr. Joseph’s career as a professional educator included serving as an elementary school principal in Vance County.

🗳️ Milltrene Brodie Newell — Candidate for Franklin County Commissioner At Large

As a County Commissioner At Large, I will serve ALL residents of Franklin County; not just one district, town, or neighborhood. At Large commissioners are elected by every voter in the county to work on behalf of the entire community.

County commissioners play a key role in guiding local government.

They help:

✅ Shape county policies and priorities

✅ Approve and oversee the county budget and spending

✅ Ensure services like emergency response, infrastructure planning, and public health are responsive to residents’ needs

✅ Represent the interests of Franklin County citizens in public meetings and decisions that affect everyday life.

This is YOUR government, and it should work with you, not behind closed doors.

🤝 My Vision for Leadership

I am running to bring a new level of transparency, inclusivity, and accountability to this office:

🔹 Transparent leadership — all decisions and budgets should be clear and explained in plain language so residents understand what their government is doing and why.

🔹 Inclusive representation — every voice in Franklin County matters. I will actively seek input from people of all backgrounds, ages, and communities.

🔹 Accountable governance — when leaders make decisions, they should answer directly to the people they represent, not special interests.

🔹 Community-centered service — policies and priorities must be grounded in what you tell me matters most, from safer roads and better services to sound fiscal stewardship.

I’m committed to leadership that listens first, acts with integrity, and builds trust across our county.

📅 Election Day: November 3, 2026

🗳️ Vote for leadership that puts our community first.

It's wild that NC is getting TWO winter storms in a row like this. Sadly we must once again reschedule our big 2026 Elections Kick-Off Party planned for this upcoming Saturday.

The weather continues to threaten the safety of anyone attempting to have a weekend in this state.
Please stay home and stay safe.

We WILL have our party Saturday, Feb 21st. Still 5pm and still and headquarters. Your tickets are good on the new date.

If any winter weather threatens us again then we must cancel and plan something for the Spring.

Please reach out with any questions.
