Louisburg Fire Chief Gerald Rittinghouse received a donation of $2,000 from representatives of the local Peace Lodge 243 this morning at the Louisburg Chamber of Commerce Connections event. The fire department battled a large hay bale fire earlier in the week and have been monitoring it all week for flare ups.

On this first day of spring it feels more like summer with today's temperature in the low 90s. The beautiful flowering quince in downtown Louisburg might not be as beautiful this spring. Temperatures that dropped in the teens earlier in the week might have nipped these and other plants and flowers.
