SUMMARY:

At 1228 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Bunn to 7 miles northeast of Zebulon to near
Bailey, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Nashville, Louisburg, Bailey, Bunn, Spring Hope, Middlesex, Castalia,
Pilot, and Tar River Reservoir.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 132 and 127.
NC Highway 264 between Mile Markers 23 and 31.

Franklin County is now under a Thunderstorm Watch until 8pm, meaning that conditions are right for the formation and impact of a severe thunderstorm. Storms have brought with them gusts up to 70mph, though it is unlikely that a tornado will form the threat cannot be completely disregarded.

⚠️ 11:15 AM Radar Update: Storm coverage is expanding across central NC, and the severe threat will continue developing into the afternoon.

We are currently tracking two main areas of thunderstorms:
⛈️ An initial band near the Triad.
⛈️ A secondary line along the US-1 Corridor moving into the Triangle and Sandhills.

Expect an uptick in storms over the next several hours as activity shifts east. The primary threat is damaging winds, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

A line of thunderstorms should be impacting the county from now through the next half hour, these storms are brining wind gusts of 40-50mph. Please avoid driving during the storm.
