Pursuant to Governor J.B. Pritzker’s March 9, 2020, Disaster Proclamation, as well as various Executive Orders from President Donald J. Trump, relative to the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic, we are limiting face to face interactions with members of the Lostant Police Department and implementing new temporary procedures for reporting non-emergency incidents.

At this time, we ask that you contact us via phone with all questions and non-emergency calls. For non-emergency calls, an officer will determine if a response to your location is necessary or if your report can be completed via phone. Our officers will continue to respond to emergency calls such as domestic disputes, motor vehicle crashes, violent crimes, etc. Our officers will continue to patrol the village as we have in the past and will enforce ALL laws and ordinances. Citizens are reminded to call 911 only for emergency situations that require an immediate police response.

For all non-emergency requests for police assistance please contact the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department at (815) 433-2161.

The Lostant Police Department sends our deepest sympathies to the family, friends and coworkers of the Illinois State Police District 16 Trooper who was was killed during a traffic stop in Freeport, Illinois today.

This is the 15th Trooper struck this year, and the second fatality.

For the safety of all law enforcement, fire, EMS, and any other safety/maintenance personnel slow down and move over. Illinois law requires you slow down and move over for ANY vehicle on the side of the road with flashing lights. This adds very little time to your trip and could save a life.
