The National Weather Service has provided updated potential rainfall totals for the storm moving in early tomorrow. Notice that three possible scenarios are provided with likelihood of each at the top. This is NOT how NWS typically provides information this close to a storm moving in but due to the uncertainty of this storm, multiple scenarios remain possible.

Rain for SLO County is forecast to be the strongest tomorrow, which less rain Friday and then continued rain Saturday. So don't put your umbrellas away after the first storm comes through!

There is a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms, which can produce short lived but high intensity rainfall. This includes in the Gifford Burn Scar area, so residents and travelers there should plan accordingly.

We just received notice that there will be Ramp Closures on Northbound US 101 through Downtown SLO set to begin this Sunday and lasting for 10 days. Here is the information from Caltrans.

RAMP CLOSURES ON NORTHBUND US 101 THRU DOWNTOWN SAN LUIS OBISPO SET TO BEGIN SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — A project to improve the safety of ramps on US 101 in San Luis Obispo between Broad Street and California Boulevard, is advancing with new ramp closures. This project will improve the safety of ramps through the application of contrasting surface treatments, vegetation control, and improvements in landscaping.

Travelers on northbound US 101 will encounter a closure of the Broad St. northbound onramp, the Osos St. northbound offramp, and the auxiliary lane that connects the two.

This ramp and lane closure will go into effect beginning Sunday, November 2, at 10 pm and is expected to remain in effect for 10 days. Travelers are advised to plan their travel through the downtown corridor accordingly. Message and directional signs will alert travelers in advance of these closures.

Making sure we place the correct plastics in our recycling bin, helps ensure the batch gets properly recycled. Remember to first reduce single use and plastics consumption, and reuse items you already have.

Welcome back to Where to Throw Wednesday! Today’s topic is aseptic packaging 🧃. Aseptic packaging refers to a special process which packages items like milk, broths, and juice in a sterile environment and thus allows them to be shelf-stable. In order to allow for shelf-stability, aseptic packaging, like the cartons shown above, are made up of multiple layers: paper, aluminum, and plastic. Because of this, they must be thrown in the garbage bin as recycling technology is not equipped to separate these layers.

When possible, opt for recyclable packaging of milks and juices or even try your hand at making your own broth!

Container Notes
Cleanup Week garbage may be placed in standard trash cans or tied into bundles. Standard trash containers will be emptied and left on the curb. Boxes and plastic bags will be taken away with your garbage. If you want your non-standard containers left behind, please mark or place a note on them.

Container Size
Containers or bundles of garbage must weigh 75 pounds or less and must measure four feet or less in overall length. No hazardous materials will be taken. Garbage, greenwaste, & recycling combined for 6 cans, bags, or bundles plus your waste wheelers. Excess garbage will be left on the curb.
SIX standard trash cans (31 gallons each) OR the equivalent in bags, boxes, or bundles. Each not to exceed 75 pounds and four feet in length.

General Tip
1. Please don’t use plastic bags in the commingled recycling or greenwaste cans. Inadvertently someone will throw garbage in with the recycling and contaminate the entire load. Just dump the recycling in the can and throw the bag away.
2. Large pieces of cardboard need to be cut up or broken down so they fit in the blue recycle cart. The automated trucks can’t pick up loose cardboard. If you need a bigger blue bin call the office. There is a fee to remove extra cardboard.
3. If you forget to put your cans out by 6:00AM and we have to send a truck back to your house, there will be a trip charge for each commodity.
4. It is important to not pack the waste wheeler so tight that when turned upside down, nothing will come out.
The office number is 805-543-0875.
