Our 20th annual Jazz & Olive Festival is June 6th. All of the money that we raise goes right back to our community. We still need a few volunteers, and we especially need a few more O'Chefs. If you are willing to make a dish that will serve about 300 2 ounce servings, let us know! The only stipulation to your dish is that it must contain olives or an olive product such as olive oil.

Spend a Saturday afternoon in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley, tasting wine from many local wineries, listening to world-class, professional jazz musicians, and sampling different olive-themed dishes prepared by local chefs.

LO Rotary gave Jerry Long/SYV Airport Authority a Scholarship for young people to learn about aviation and possibly be interested in pursuing a future in aviation. Our club is visiting the airport for our 5th Thursday this month! Join us!!

Last night's meeting was all about tomorrow's Jazz & Olive Festival, our major fundraiser of the year. We also took time to welcome former member, Ray Lopez, and to present him with a $1,000 check for Circle V Ranch Camp scholarships. It was great to see Ray!

Los Olivos Rotary was happy to invite Charles Harris of the SB County Fire Safe Council to a public meeting where he shared valuable information about wildfire prevention and mitigation. Thanks to St. Mark’s for the use of Stacy Hall, and thanks to Charles and the nonprofit Fire Safe Council for the time, expertise and effort.

We had the pleasure of hearing Alejandra Rosales, the registrar and scholarship coordinator at Santa Ynez Valley High School, speak to us about their scholarship program . Our club supports several scholarships at the high school each year, and it was interesting to learn the application process that the students go through. Thank you, Alejandra, for an informative presentation!

Last night, our club had the pleasure of meeting Edwin Velarde, the chair of the District 5240 Rotary Action Group for Diabetes. Edwin talked to us about the prevalence of diabetes, not only in other countries, but in our own district. It was a very informative presentation.
