Take a moment to help us update the County's Hazard Mitigation Plan!
The Valencia County Office of Emergency Management is updating the county’s multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan, and is asking the community for feedback. The plan is a regional project underway since fall 2025 that identifies the natural hazards facing our communities, assesses our greatest risks and outlines actions to reduce future losses over the next five years.
A community survey of about 45 questions is being made available to the public so the county can gather information about whether residents have been directly affected by a natural disaster, how they prefer to receive emergency information and how concerned they are about disasters such as severe heat, flooding, wildfire or bosque fires, winter storms and more.
The survey can be found at the following link: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/KuayMshMfg
Maintaining a current FEMA-approved plan keeps all participating jurisdictions eligible for federal disaster assistance, mitigation grans and recovery funding. Those jurisdictions locally are Valencia County, city of Belen, village of Bosque Farms, village of Los Lunas, town of Peralta, city of Rio Communities, the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District and Valencia Soil and Water Conservation District.
