On Holocaust Survivor Day, observed on June 4, we join communities across the United States in honoring and celebrating Holocaust Survivors. This worldwide initiative is rooted in gratitude for the gift of our Survivors' legacies and in recognition of their lives, families, and countless contributions to our communities.
The June 4 observance reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that Holocaust remembrance remains deeply connected to living testimony, especially at a time when firsthand voices matter more than ever.
In 2019, Seed the Dream Foundation partnered with KAVOD to establish the KAVOD Survivors of the Holocaust Emergency Fund (SHEF) to address the unmet emergency needs of Holocaust Survivors. At that time, it was estimated that one-third of the approximately 100,000 Holocaust Survivors living in the United States were experiencing poverty.
This year, Holocaust Survivor Day events are taking place in 32 KAVOD SHEF communities across the country, bringing together Survivors, families, caregivers, and community members in solidarity and celebration. Jewish Family Services (JFS) of Silicon Valley is proud to be a KAVOD SHEF affiliate serving ~350 Survivors annually.
JFS Silicon Valley is honored to celebrate the Holocaust Survivor clients we serve every day with a special event that blends music, food, and ceremony into a powerful testament to human resilience, strength, and hope.
We extend our sincere thanks to Seed the Dream Foundation for sponsoring this important event and to Jewish Silicon Valley for partnering with us by providing the space for this meaningful gathering.
Today and every day, we honor our Survivors, cherish their stories, and recommit ourselves to ensuring their legacy endures for generations to come.
