Los Gatos made history yesterday. 🌈

On June 1, Los Gatos proudly raised the Progress Pride flag! To celebrate, heard from Los Gatos High School students Nova and Siyona, who organized youth speakers to push for the flag raising; Ken Yeager, the first openly gay elected official in Santa Clara County; County Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga ; and Kylie Clark who has pushed for this for years.

We had a big turnout, with dozens and dozens of people coming together to show our unwavering support for Los Gatos’ LGBTQ+ community.

My proudest moment as Mayor yet.

Last week, a team of dedicated high school students and I put on the Youth Town Hall, a half-day event to help young people connect, learn, and grow their impact.

About 200 students attended, taking part in a panel discussion, breakout sessions, and a resource fair linking students with local organizations.

What makes me most proud is the team of students who co-organized this event with me: Lucas Liu, Nova Jayaraj, Aashvee Vij, Julia Neyman, Ben Nester, and Georgina Cobb.

Thank you to .camino.health for sponsoring, for hosting, for making it all possible, and the many adult panelists, facilitators, and volunteers who supported the event.

Our Youth Town Hall is happening this Saturday, and we still have about 30 spots available!

I’m excited to announce that our lineup of speakers includes Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Assemblymember Patrick Ahrens, the Vice President of El Camino Health, and the Director of the Stanford Democracy Hub! After hearing from these leaders, students will engage in breakout conversations on the issues raised.

Plus, food is being generously sponsored by El Camino Health Hospital so every student will receive lunch from Mendocino Farms!
